The Samsung Gear S release date is sometime this fall

The Samsung Gear S smartwatch is headed to the US this fall. We know, that's a vague time period between basically today and December 21, but hey, it's better than nothing.

The Gear S, which shunned Android Wear in favor of Samsung's own Tizen OS, will land at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon whenever it releases.

Though lacking a firm fall release date, the Gear S does offer much in the fact users don't need a smartphone to operate this smartwatch. The other thing going for/against the Gear S is it's size; it's a large device that makes a statement.

A T-Mobile statement on the Gear S's release revealed one helpful tidbit: "We'll have more details to share next month, so stay tuned" it chirped. We shall.
