LG G Watch R could go on sale as early as October 14

The wait for LG's smartwatch, the LG G Watch R, may be over sooner than we think, with a number of South Korean publications announcing that the launch date may be as soon as 14 October, just over a week away.

However, some sources are suggesting that it might be even earlier than that, and that it could be in some customers' hands as early as tomorrow, though this might be due to a one-week exclusivity deal with an online shop.

These release dates are for South Korea, so we're still not sure when the LG G Watch R will launch in other locations, though if LG hopes to not give too much of a head start to the G Watch R's competitor, the Moto 360, then hopefully the international launch won't be too far behind.

We contacted LG, who told us that it currently doesn't have an update on availability just yet.

The battle for our wrists

While various sources weren't clear on the exact date of the LG G Watch R's launch, they did agree on what the price will be.

The wearable is expected to go on sale in South Korea for 352,000 won (around £208, $332, AU$382), a touch more expensive than the Moto 360 which can be had for £199 ($249, around AU$340).

With both wearables selling for a similar amount, the fight for our wrists could really hot up with these round-facers on the market, and it looks like we won't have long to wait to get an idea of who the victor might be.
